Busy Boys!!

There was only one word to describe this session……..BUSY!! These boys did not stop! I’m just so thankful that their parents had a “let’s just let them have fun” attitude and didn’t have big expectations for the perfect posed portrait. These boys, as sweet as they are, came into the session with their own agendas.

Two boys + beach + two different directions = TOO much fun!

Miss S at the Beach

It had to have been one of the hottest, brightest, sunniest days of the year when we had this session scheduled. Miss S’s mom told me she was going to bring Savannah’s bathing suit for her session and I kept thinking, you don’t put a toddler in her suit, late afternoon in October. Ha, the weather proved me wrong. It was hot and sunny and bright until the sun set! Seriously it seemed to go from full on sunshine, to dark in a matter of minutes.

I absolutely fell in love with this family. Seriously, I could have stayed all day! Even as I looked around their home, I kept thinking, ‘wow, this feels like my house.” In fact, I think I kept saying, “I have that couch, those dishes, etc.” Lot and lots of similarities and you combine that with how sweet this family was and really, I think I’ve made new friends! At the end of the session J even sent me home with a bag of apples from their trees and then emailed me her Mama’s apple cake recipe. See, I think I’m family. Now don’t get me wrong, I love the apples, but hmmmm, they are berry farmers and if it had been berry season………….maybe next time.

Sadie was 4 weeks old the day of her session, slightly older than the average newborn session, but once Mama got her to sleep, we were able to move her in and out of props and keep her sleeping. She is so adorable and definitely going to be the princess in this family!

And Sam, what a boy he is! Cute as a button, kind, caring, respectful, yet all boy. He even showed me that he can drive his own little 4-wheeler around! Seriously, Sam, you’re only 3! Dad says since he was big enough to reach to pedal he was driving. I guess that’s what happens when you’re a farmers son. Look how sweet he is with his baby sister.

Grand-Babies

I recently posted about little Miss Leighton turning one and her darling little “cookies and milk” party. Not wanting to play favorites, and since I happened to take a few photos of her cousins on the same day, I thought I’d share.

Beckett is now 2 years, 4 months and all boy!! Fortunately he thought it was fun to sit on top of the table and it’s the only way I had more than a split second to get a photo of him (good thinking Nana). I just love his hair, although I know his first big boy haircut is in the near future.

And B’s little sister Gigi is now 4 months old and cute as a button! I just love how sturdy she sat up in the Bumbo seat. They definitely should be a part of a photographers arsenal.

Kingston

Seems like forever ago that Kingston’s Mom received a gift certificate towards a session with me. Finally, they were in town long enough to redeem it. I’m so glad they did!

Kingston just turned 2 1/2, and boy oh boy, he is all boy! You can tell by the session. He wanted nothing to do with “perfect sit still portraits.” Instead, we tumbled on the ground (note to self, ask client to make sure sprinklers are off the night before), picked apples, talked a lot about trucks (he knows every kind of tractor) and wandered up the street to watch a construction dumpster be moved by a really big and loud truck!!

I’ve decided this family is out to “wear me out!” I shot Kingston’s cousin about a year ago and I’m here to say, BUSY runs in the family!

Des, I apologize this sneak peek has taken so long. I hope to have the rest of the session finished by the end of the weekend.

Finally, I got to do a session with my two little nephews. They live, well to say out of town, would be an under-exaggartion. They live in Dubai!! Crazy! Anyways, they were in town this summer and their Mama was not going back home without Aunt Renee doing some photos of her little guys. She’s always seeing me posting about this niece or that nephew and I think she was feeling a little left out of my camera world!

She kept warning me that they would not sit still for me, and well, she was pretty much correct. We had a few bribery tricks up our sleeves and were able to get them to “almost” sit together. Oh, you should see some of the outtakes!

Their Mama was looking for mostly B&W’s, but of course I thought I’d show a few color images as well.

Just look at all the cuteness going on with these two brothers!

Busy little Lilly!! When I talked to Lilly’s mama when we booked the session, she was telling me how Lilly is a calm child, can sit for long periods of time and look at books and paint. Well, she decided to prove her mom wrong!! She was busy busy busy, but her cuteness won out, and in the end we got some great photos! We just had to get creative on how we “stopped her in her tracks” to get her to look at the camera. I love when parents leave a session wondering if we got any great shots, and then I get to show them images like these!!

And then the unexpected shot during an outfit change and it might just be my favorite!!

I stepped back in time a few years (okay, lots of years) when this “three girl” family walked into the studio. Yes, I will admit to being partial, since I raised three daughters, but just look at how cute they are and I’m sure you’ll agree with me……. “three girls” is the best!

Jill, thank you so much for sharing your sweet daughters with me! They are all adorable and I can’t wait for them to come back so we can play “dress up.” I might even join you for ice cream next time And, I hope you now have nothing but positive memories of having professional photos taken of the girls!

Baby Cat and her big brother came for a visit! What little dolls they both were, even though brother preferred my animal cookies to sitting and holding baby sis! Oh well, we’ll get some together shots when she’s a little bigger.
