Back to School

Today is the Tuesday after Labor day. A day that for many is the first day back to school after a summer of fun with your little ones. I used to love summer vacation and having the girls home. I loved the non-scheduled days of summer, playing at the beach or the pool, summer BBQ’s with family and friends and not having to settle into the homework routine every evening.

Today many of you packed your child’s first school lunch of the new year. It was an exciting morning as they headed off to school wearing their new clothes. I remember like it was yesterday doing the back to school shopping and the endless hours finding the perfect new lunch boxes and backpacks. I remember laying out the clothes the night before and in the morning, brushing their hair till their ponytail was perfect.

I find it ironic that today I sat next to my daughter on a plane for 5 1/2 hours. That’s the length of time it takes to fly between CA and NY. You see, my baby girl has accepted a new job in New York and today was moving day.

So, whether your child headed out the door with their new lunch box or a boarding pass, one thing is certain………they grow up way too fast!

I don’t know what your child’s lunch looked like, but I have a friend who makes the most incredible bento style lunches for her boys. She has a website, This Lunch Rox,  that is a must to check out for inspiration.

First, Jaime’s website, The Lunch Rox, does rock! I love her for not only her cool lunches but her willingness to say that every day doesn’t get the same level of creativity. There’s hope for us slacker moms after all!

Second, is seems like every step in our child’s life is just another step away from us. I hope they remember that when they go, they take a piece of us with them. Whether they are 6, 26 or 66, they are still our babies and we still worry over them.ReplyCancel

Soooo cute! I am so afraid of how fast my kids are growing. I found out that I may have mentioned it once or twice in front of them because the other day we were visiting my youngest sister, who is home from college until next semester, and my 6yr old, Skylar, said “We can’t go to college because Mama’s afraid that if we do, she won’t see us again.” Lol. She got it a little mixed up, but that’s close to me saying that they can’t GO AWAY to college. Haha.ReplyCancel
