  • Welcome to Renee Whiting Photography

Hi and welcome to my blog!

I'm a photographer in Santa Cruz, CA, specializing in Newborns through Pre-K. I love my sessions with the little ones and hope it shows in my work. If you like what you see, I hope you'll use the "contact" button and drop me an email so we can get a session scheduled for you. Please be aware that I spend a good deal of time in Santa Barbara (my sweet grand-babies are there), so don't wait till the last minute to book your session. If you are interested in scheduling a newborn session, please contact me approx. a month before your due date and I'll "pencil" you in.

I am excited to announce the opening of my new studio! It is located in Scotts Valley in the Camp Evers Center. It is bright, fun and very kid friendly!!

And, for those of you who might be wondering (or are a bit confused), I'm still Nana at Nana's Empty Nest. I just came to the realization that I really missed photographing the little ones, and decided to put more of my focus back into photography. I'll still be posting the occasional recipe, etc. And, all of Nana's old posts can be found under the "category" tab under Nana's Empty Nest.

Give me a call, I'd love to see you and your little one(s).
    Blessings,
    Renee

Sweet Sweet Siblings

First, forgive me, it’s been forever and a day since I’ve blogged………  :(

I ran a little special on my Facebook page last week and got a call from Shannon to photograph her six month old. Small town, it turns out we have multiple friends in common and I even went to school with her mom. I love our little town!

I knew the moment they walked into the studio that the session would be a success! The entire family is adorable, well dressed and kind!

Here’s a little peek from Parker’s six month session and of course a couple of his big sister Kayla. They are both just too cute for words!

Boy or Girl???

It’s still fun to plan a little surprise gender reveal, even if it’s your third child and even if you already have one boy and one girl!! I mean who doesn’t like to go down to the beach on a beautiful afternoon with family and friends? And who doesn’t like to enjoy a little dinner at the Crow’s Nest afterwards? And who isn’t excited for another baby in the family? ME!! And that is exactly why when my niece called and asked if I’d be a part of their gender reveal that I knew I had to be there! Oh, and can you bring your camera Aunt Ne?  Of course!!

Friends & family were asked to make their guess by wearing a pink or blue necklace.

I don’t remember the exact count, but I think that blue was winning!

I choose to wear a pink necklace. I just love little girls and since their youngest is a girl and they’ll be less than two years apart, it just seemed practical for this one to be a girl also.

Well, what do you think??

Boy?

Or

Girl?

Looks like this Auntie was wrong. That’s okay, as much as I love little girls, I can make room for another little nephew!

Congratulations Nik & Kimberley (and Wyatt & Leela too).

Isabella…Part Two

Merry Christmas to the G family! Baby Isabella was born shortly before Christmas and I got to do a quick session with her and her big brother and sister just in time to get cards in the mail for Christmas. Unfortunately, big brother wasn’t too happy about it… he was definitely having a two year old hard time adjusting to the fact that he had another sister:)

Don’t worry, the front of their card had individual images of all three and they were all happy and smiling! I just love the back however, it’s a cross between “you’d better not pout” and “welcome to the world of having three children.”

Christmas came and went and finally baby I came back to finish up her session. This time it was calm and quiet. Just Mama, Baby I and me. Ahhhhh….. And, Isabella slept almost the entire time! It was a perfect session with a 4 week old.

Miss Grace!

I’m going to admit something here that I probably shouldn’t. I should be saying that every session is my favorite session, but honestly, some sessions are harder than other. Fussy babies and tired toddlers can make for tougher sessions, but Miss Grace came in full of energy and ready for some fun!! Please don’t get me wrong, I LOVE every session that I do.

Grace is an amazing little girl!! And amazing doesn’t even begin to describe her. At the young age of 4, Grace is a competitive snowboarder! I’m sure her Mama won’t mind when I tell you to go check out her FB page: GRACE

I’ve never met her Dad, but I can tell you that she got her style, beauty and big personality from her Mama! Sorry Dad.

I think these storyboards do a good job of showcasing her personality:

Miss Grace, I wish you the best of luck on the slopes this year!! I will be stalking your FB page and YouTube videos:)

I look forward to the next time you come back to the studio to play!!
