  • Welcome to Renee Whiting Photography

Hi and welcome to my blog!

I'm a photographer in Santa Cruz, CA, specializing in Newborns through Pre-K. I love my sessions with the little ones and hope it shows in my work. If you like what you see, I hope you'll use the "contact" button and drop me an email so we can get a session scheduled for you. Please be aware that I spend a good deal of time in Santa Barbara (my sweet grand-babies are there), so don't wait till the last minute to book your session. If you are interested in scheduling a newborn session, please contact me approx. a month before your due date and I'll "pencil" you in.

I am excited to announce the opening of my new studio! It is located in Scotts Valley in the Camp Evers Center. It is bright, fun and very kid friendly!!

And, for those of you who might be wondering (or are a bit confused), I'm still Nana at Nana's Empty Nest. I just came to the realization that I really missed photographing the little ones, and decided to put more of my focus back into photography. I'll still be posting the occasional recipe, etc. And, all of Nana's old posts can be found under the "category" tab under Nana's Empty Nest.

Give me a call, I'd love to see you and your little one(s).
    Blessings,
    Renee

Mother’s Day Session

What Grandma wants, Grandma gets!

I had the honor and the privilege of being asked to photograph this family. It was Grandma’s request that when her family was all in town for Mother’s Day that photos be taken. I had photographed one of the couples a couple of years ago and so I got the call. 19 people, in the middle of the day, on a holiday weekend. Ummmm, why yes Lynn, of course I’ll do that for you:)

Thankfully, we were able to find one spot in the yard that was “almost” completely out of the bright sun. I told everyone to squeeze together and keep smiling while I did everything I could to get the little guy in front to smile. A couple of fake “ahhh-choos” was all it took. 19 smiles! 20, if you count the dog! I’d say it was a success!

My Sweet Babies!

Well, two of my sweet babies. This Nana is blessed with four grandbabies so far and I love every minute of spending time with them, even when their Mommy & Daddy take a ten day vacation and leave them with Nana and Papa. Yep, we were on Nana/Papa duty for 10 days!

Other than being absolutely exhausted and too early of mornings, it was pure joy having these two at our house.

Since they were returning home on Mother’s Day, I found it only fitting that I would take them into the studio for a quick little session. It was definitely work, trying to manage these two by myself while taking the photos. The final score…..Babies=2, Nana=0

Fortunately a little bribery worked and I managed to get a couple of shots where they were almost smiling and looking at me at the same time:)
